Abba Painting in Manhattan, Kansas can take an old, dilapidated house, worn through time and weather, and make it a home you'd be proud to live in.

Making Old Houses New Again

Well, not exactly new--but you can do a lot to change an old, worn home into one with increased energy efficiency and a fresh look simply with professional repair, caulking, patch and paint.

Many folks think that a paint job is a paint job is a paint job.

However, the changes made to your home can last for many many years, rather than just a few seasons, when done by a professional who knows the tricks of the trade that come with experience.

Below are some photos taken of a home painted by us over seven years ago. This house had received a paint job three years prior to our work. Due to improper prep work and less-than-professional application of the paint (Quality paint, by the way, is expensive these days!)--the house needed to be repainted in only three years.

So the phrase, Penny-wise, Pound foolish comes to mind...

Two Old Houses: Revival!

These pictures show how a quality paint job can change the look of an older home.

Keep in mind, this first house is over a hundred years old. A top-notch prep and paint job makes it look like not a day over 49....
The hundred-year-old house is located at 4th and Osage. This was painted over seven years ago.

This second, six-colored house is located at 10th and Leavenworth.
It is a great example of how a house that was in a sad state can be made quite lovely again with a proper repair and paint job. ("before" photos coming this weekend...)

Abba Painting: One Dozen Years

We decided to mark year twelve of serving the Manhattan-Flint Hills Area by starting the Abba Painting Blog.
We hope to be able to post tips for homeowners, as well as links to good information about keeping your home ready for the elements, which is important if you live in Kansas!
We will also post any interesting remodel jobs (with permissions)  for those of you who are interested in before and after photos.

If the weeks go by without any new posts, it is because we are really busy....

Here is a picture of a huge honeycomb and bee colony found in an old farmhouse getting ready for remodel.
The hive was saved and is now in good hands.
